Panay Island An Abrupt Solo Backpacking

I had listed several destinations that I wanted to visit, this time I don’t need to wait for seat sale or a company besides this is the reason why most of my travel plans did not push thru. So I decided to travel solo again. While we were eating on a Sunday family lunch right in time with my vacation leave I didn’t know that my brother’s family would go to Boracay so I was asked to join them. I shared that I also want to travel Panay Island it’s a great opportunity since I have all the time. I immediately bought a ferry ticket the following day I don’t want to miss this chance.

For my solo plan I woke up early to depart going to Antique there were several buses and vans in Caticlan that transport to the provinces of Panay just mentioned to the driver to drop you off to Tibiao at Brgy San Vicente for Kawa good thing that the van was almost full of passengers when I arrived in the terminal the travel time took only 4 hours. The mobile signal was poor in Tibiao reason why my data was not working and was not able to get the number of my contact. I just told to the habal-habal driver to drop me off to any resort he could recommend.

I asked the driver for a side trip with the hanging bridge and rice terraces and I just gave him a small tip for photo ops and for taking care of my belongings.

I left at 2pm and rode in an ordinary bus for P177  it took me 6.5 hours going to Molo, Ilo-ilo and it was really a great road trip experienced I had a chance to see the bayan-bayan of Antique.

It’s already eight in the evening when I arrived Molo, Iloilo when I reached the terminal I need to find a place to stay I went to their Barangay Hall and asked for any lodge or pensione house for backpackers that I could spend my evening cause I need to cross Bacolod early in the morning to catch the first trip. They were very helpful and accommodating I’ve noticed more than 5 people helping me to look for a place and instructing the direction.

I crossed Bacolod the following day took a taxi for P70 going to pier and bought a 2GO ticket  for P260 for the earliest ferry departure ILO-BCD 8:00AM

Right in the Bacolod pier tricycles and taxis are available to check out the tourist destinations like The Ruins and Silay Ancestral Houses so negotiate for the best price I paid P180 for the tricycle going in and out of the Ruins / Entrance Fee P100.

No scheduled departure of ferry going back to Manila in Bacolod on that day and I don’t want to cross back again to Iloilo and would be embarked for 24 hours.  So,  I asked the tricycle driver to drop me off to the mall to find a travel agency if I would get the price of an airfare for P3000 well still in in my budget I would grab it. Gotcha! I booked the next day earliest flight.

I’m enjoying travelling alone this time it’s not that I don’t want to have a company but being alone is more of self discovery on how far can you go and let where your courage would take you. It’s an opportunity to clear your mind, to pray and to think of your next plans when you come home. I am so blessed with the people around me, with the help of my family and friends I came to realized that these are the people who will not leave by my side wherever I am I maybe travelling solo, but I know I will never be alone in this journey.
